When one visualization changes into another, many different changes can happen. Visual elements may move to new positions, change their visual properties, form new groups, appear or disappear, or change from one visual representation to another.
Describing all these transitions individually can quickly become complicated. A grammar could provide a small set of reusable operations for describing common visualization changes and allow these operations to be combined for more complex transitions. This project will explore what these basic operations should be and how they can be organized into such a grammar.
